Student Fellows
Integral to UBC’s Initiative for Student Teaching and Research in Chinese Canadian studies (INSTRCC) is “student-based learning”- an approach where students are not passively receiving what is already known but actively creating new knowledge. Working on projects that they help create, our students take active roles in their own education. Moreover, the most committed and engaged students are given working fellowships to continue their research and to help teach new sets of students the skills they have learned. These talented Student Fellows take a leading role in the direction of teaching and research activities, and are vital pioneers in the building of this important field of study. They create knowledge, from recording oral interviews and family histories to film-making and website production.
